AMERICANA GOTHIC

![]() |
This regarding
your view of Americana Gothic- released by myself and my three cohorts:
Your review (much like you describe our album) is both apt and premature.
Your description of a dark and brooding sound moving like a storm addresses
an image that we have discussed as a band. The observation that we hold
nothing back is complimentary. Thanks. However- your observation that
we play too close to our influences ("you can hear where they've
been on the way to where they are")is a drunken swerve off the
highway of truth that wreaks of cheap gin. I take personal and unrelenting
offense to your parallel of our sound to the (gasp!) Doors. (We have
never flashed genitalia on stage). Although it's a beautiful name none
of us have ever heard of It's a Beautiful Day or the (splash!) Waterboys
and the Pogues- I recognize but have only heard in passing. I personally
can't stand Neil Young and his mamby pamby pants sound but I'll forgive
you for that since he has star power. Well- one overused metaphor deserves
another- but this is where my lizard brain stops. Thanks for the review-
and we'll see you on the way back to where we came from - or something-
wait up I'm lost!... Annie Savage - Letterpress Opry |
