{"id":1085,"date":"2014-01-20T21:29:08","date_gmt":"2014-01-20T21:29:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shaunbelcher.com\/research\/?p=1085"},"modified":"2014-05-21T11:00:18","modified_gmt":"2014-05-21T11:00:18","slug":"studio-diary-m-a-thats-all-folks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shaunbelcher.com\/news\/?p=1085","title":{"rendered":"Studio Diary M.A. : That&#8217;s all folks and a chapter on Moogee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Surprise of the week was news that Moogee had his own chapter in a new Loughborough\/UAL\/Teachers Columbia publication \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/shaunbelcher.com\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/TTDfront.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1089\" src=\"https:\/\/shaunbelcher.com\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/TTDfront.jpg\" alt=\"TTDfront\" width=\"364\" height=\"229\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/shaunbelcher.com\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/moogee.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1090\" src=\"https:\/\/shaunbelcher.com\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/moogee.jpg\" alt=\"moogee\" width=\"168\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>M.A. ASSESSMENT<\/p>\n<p>This is the final entry in the studio diary section as I will be assessed on my M.A. this Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Where I go from here is a good question and not one I can answer easily.<\/p>\n<p>There are three separate yet overlapping areas I have become deeply interested in.<\/p>\n<p>1. Drawing research ; phenomenology of drawing and in particular an interest in sense of place and notions of &#8216;signature&#8217; in terms of preparatory drawings especially in Gorky, <a href=\"http:\/\/sovaldihepatitisc.net\/\" style=\"text-decoration:none;color:#676c6c\">health<\/a>  Miro up to Motherwell and Twombly all developing out of the surrealism and dada influence on mid-century American painting.<\/p>\n<p>2. Early film\/photography and magazine culture of the 18th Century\/early 19th century and its relation to current developments in web. I have a paper to present in Paris on Charles Dickens magazine illustration end of March and I will be concentrating on that alone from now until then.<\/p>\n<p>3. The continuation of this research into artistic research theory\/philosophy of aesthetics and its dissemination through fine art pedagogy.<\/p>\n<p>All three are possible PhD subject matter and how my institution views my future will probably have a major bearing on where I go.<\/p>\n<p>My heart though probably in number one&#8230;..my head in number three and my teaching future at present tied up somewhere in number \u00a0two whether I like it or not&#8230;&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Interesting times ahead \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile I&#8217;d like to thank Deborah Harty for her very good supervision and for stopping me going off-track all the time or as they like to say in academia develop &#8216;focus&#8217;.
