A
wee space that would be near the end if this was a
paper magazine but seeing as we exist in all places
at all times now you may well be reading this first
..empowering the reader they call it or some such
hypertext tosh..
what
it really means is a place where all the bits that
don't fit elsewhere wash up when surf's up.
also
a good place to let you know where when and how or
why the next flyin shoes
will be touching down.
hopefully
sometime in October and will in true transatlantic
fashion call itself FALL 1999 not
because of any great reason other than that way I get
to bring out the zine in some sort of order and I
missed British denotation by what we call a long
chalk and no I don't know what that means either.
Fall
will hopefully bring you an interview with the very
worthy Jesse Winchester courtesy of the electronic
medium of mail and Bob Paterson will be talking to
the Doc Martin obsessed Stacey Earle. There'll also
be an article on the dynamic duo from Nashville Lou
Ann Bardash and Tom Ovans and featured label will be
the groovy Acuarela of Spain to show that we're part
of Europe rather than the island just off
Newfoundland. The reviews section will be littered
with more self-opinionated songwriters and please if
there are any female songwriters out there who would
like to contribute -write in please! - getting too
many male hormones around here for my liking.
Up
for a slatin/praisin in our new 'active' reviews
section will be the new Gram tribute , Johnny Dowd,
Townes, the Kinks 'Muswell Hillbillies',Mr. Wilson
and a load of other things. There will be features on
The Beta Band and Michael Hurley just to show that we
are/are not a bunch of sad old hippies. The only
category is no bl***ing categories.
If
you like what you see let us know what else you'd
like featured or just suggest what we can waste our
summer evenings on when we should be out playing
cricket.
Over
and out .
Mr.
Shoes.
p.s.
there will be poetry too and I make no excuses for
that..oh and if any of the above features tie-in with
anything it's by default not design ...
flyin
shoes...the cart before the horse of
venture capitalism...
talking
of which the following individuals who all make
cartloads of money from promoting themselves or other
obscure songwriters who only sell each Lent in Sweden
are to be thanked for supporting this charity
work..may there steeds never shed a shoe.
